Amazonian House-ing: A Visual Anthropology Essay

 This visual essay documents the house-ing practices of Amazonian river dwellers and urban peri-urban residents in face large-scale development projects. In Altamira (Pará, Brazil), construction third-largest hydroelectric dam world, Belo Monte Plant, has led to flooding housing areas along rivers displacement into collective resettlements. Although complexities people’s living did not enter engineers’ calculations or public policy agenda, improvised materials aesthetic repertoires preserve relationships that constituted their local ecologies.  Este ensaio documenta práticas de ribeirinhos e habitantes urbanos peri-urbanos da Amazônia, confrontados com grandes projetos desenvolvimento. Em Brasil), a construção terceira maior hidroelétrica do mundo, usina Monte, conduziu ao alagamento áreas habitacionais deslocamento seus moradores para novos assentamentos coletivos.
